Netflix Announces Premiere Date For New Historical Drama Frontier

November 15, 2016

Promising to brighten up the post-Christmas slump, Netflix has set a premiere date for an exciting new historical period drama Frontier, due to be released 20 January 2016. Starring Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa, it looks at the violent battling between groups during the 1700s Canadian fur trade.

This is great news for those fans of bloodier historical dramas, as early pictures have indicated a no-holds barred looked the wild life of Canadian frontiersman. Momoa, who has already perfected brutality and power with Thrones’ Khal Drogo and DC Comics’ Aquaman, will be a driving star power as the ruthless trader Declan Harp. He is joined by a talented cast that includes Christian McKay, Landon Liboiron, Alun Armstrong, Zoe Boyle, Jessica Matten and Shawn Doyle.

Frontier will air to the world with a first season of six episodes. Like Stranger Things, a recent hit Netflix production, this show has been co-created by brothers – namely, Rob and Peter Blackie – and is directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas). A second season is already confirmed, so the powers that be behind Netflix must have a good feeling about this one.
