February 9, 2017

The teaser trailer has been unveiled for writer/direct Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, a period drama thriller starring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst. Based on a Southern Gothic novel titled the A Painted Devil by Thomas P. Cullinan, the film is set in the American Civil War.

It follows the story of a wounded Union soldier (Colin Farrell), who is rescued by the women in an all-female boarding school. Soon jealousy and attraction begins to cause trouble in the school, with dramatic consequences. Watch the trailer below to get a sneak peek –

The novel has been adapted once previously in 1971, with Clint Eastwood starring as the soldier. This version has similarly gained a top cast of actors, many of whom have held roles in other popular period dramas. It’s due to get an initial release in the US on June 23, 2017, before hitting worldwide cinemas a week later.
