Trailer Released For New Period Drama Series ‘Jamestown’

February 27, 2017

A 30-second teaser trailer has been revealed for a raunchy new Sky One period drama titled Jamestown. From what we can see, there’s no starched cravats and delicate finery in the traditional style, but rather an abundance of sex and violence along the lines of the recent Taboo. It certainly looks intriguing; check out the small clip below –

As the trailer states, this show shares the same creators as Downton Abbey, despite a very different tone. It will be an eight-part series, set in 1619 Jamestown when white settlers had first reached North America. The drama focuses on the historical fact that 150 young woman were sent over there to become planter’s wives, and features three fictional female leads. They will be played by Naomi Battrick, Niamh Walsh and Dickensian’s Sophie Rundle.

Filming was conducted in Hungary, in a large project that saw them recreate the site of the James Fort in meticulous detail. The air date of Jamestown is as yet unknown, but the release of this teaser trailer implies that there can’t be long to wait.
